Our walking grades explained
Leisurely
These trips suit people who wish to enjoy the hills and mountains but without too much strenuous activity and at a slower pace. Expect three hours’ walking on several days, with a maximum of approximately five hours’ walking on any one day. The remaining time is spent relaxing or sightseeing. We recommend walking boots with good ankle support, moulded soles and waterproof, breathable uppers.
Moderate
There will be some reasonably energetic days walking on hills rather than mountains, but not too strenuous (although some paths may be rough). Your average daily walking will be less the five hours. We recommend walking boots with good ankle support, moulded soles and waterproof, breathable uppers.
Hard
The itinerary includes strenuous days, offering excitement and challenge, with up to six hours walking. We advise that walking boots with good ankle support, moulded soles and waterproof, breathable uppers are essential and mandatory for safety reasons.
What about insurance?
We strongly recommend that you protect yourself, your equipment and luggage with a suitable insurance policy. This insurance should also be arranged to cover non-returnable costs should you have to cancel your trip due to unexpected personal circumstances.
We recommend that everyone participating in outdoor activities obtain appropriate insurance.
Safety
There is always a risk of serious injury when participating in any outdoor activity. Please be sensible and responsible. You are always responsible for your own safety. Always be prepared for adverse weather by bringing a waterproof jacket, warm clothes and hiking boots.

What about accommodation?
We only use top quality independent hostels and Youth Hostel Association hostels, mostly 3 and 4 stars.
We guarantee dorm bed accommodation in shared rooms for 2, max. 6 persons.
Hostels are fully equipped. In most of them you can find a shop, restaurant, self-catering kitchen, dining room, lounge and TV lounge, games room and garden. Hostels provide free linen so you don't need a sleeping bag. All comply with safety regulations.
When meal is not part of the package, it can be order in the hostel (always one day in advance). You can use hostel’s shop as well or cook in fully equipped self-catering kitchen.
Credit/debit cards are usually accepted but it is always best to bring some cash just in case.
We can also arrange alternative type of accommodation (hotel, B&B etc.) on request.
Is a sleeping bag or towel required?
A sleeping bag is not required as all hostels provide linen. It is a good idea to bring a towel although some hostels do rent them.
What about food?
When meal is not part of the package hostels have self-catering and some of them offer excellent meal for £5 - £9 (meals need to be order one day in advance). There is also plenty of opportunity to eat out at local pubs, cafes or restaurants.
What about entry fees?
There maybe a couple of entry fees into various attractions. Please check trip details.
Are there any age restrictions?
Children under 16 years of age are carried at the discretion of Minty Trips. There is no maximum age. As long as you are reasonably fit and have a good sense of fun, we are sure you will have a fantastic time!
What about insurance?
We recommend that you protect yourself, your equipment and luggage with a suitable holiday insurance policy. This insurance should also be arranged to cover non-returnable costs should you have to cancel your trip due to unexpected personal circumstances.
Will there be people travelling on their own?
Whilst we regularly get couples and friends travelling together, every trip has a number of people travelling on their own and from the first day onwards you'll have made a whole bunch of new friends!
What is a ticket?
Ticket is a confirmation of your booking.
If you pay for a trip by PayPal, the PayPal confirmation of the payment is your ticket. PayPal will send this confirmation to your email as well. Please print it out and bring it on the departure date.
