Prague

Prague, city of 100 spires
I’m inspired by your charm
When I cross the Charles Bridge or Old Square
Your churches are the answer to my prayer

Prague, glistening city of gold
You hold so many memories for me
Foes have lusted after you in droves
To add you to their treasure trove

Prague, city of a million ghosts
You’re haunted by the days gone by
Where past and present easily blend
You outlive your own legend

Prague where baroque meets art nouveau
Gothic joins with Romanesque
Statues stand in cobbled streets throughout
Where good King Wenceslas once looked out

Prague the Golem still stands guard on you
To protect you from all harm
Your seven hills around you wield
Majestically a guarding shield

Prague animated history book
Where poet can be president
With the democratic evolution
Known as the velvet revolution

Prague plays and music everywhere
You even have a dancing house
A host of puppets bob on strings
You force me to believe anything

Prague the temperature may be cold
The welcome is as warm as can be
Your intoxicating atmosphere
Is stronger than the potent beer

Prague Bohemia in spirit and name
Zeitgeist is your claim to fame
Though your culture is changing so fast
I touch the fingerprints of your past
