Itinerary
After a quick train journey from London, our day really starts at the ferry port on the south coast of England. We depart from Portsmouth, base of warships and historic ships. Get ready for high speed Hovercraft which will "fly" us over to the Island in 10 minutes.
Arriving to Ryde, the gateway to the Island, our journey across the best trails in the Isle Wight begins. On our way to Shanklin we bike along the north coast to St Helens. There are great sea views... have your cameras ready!
From there the inland trail leads us to Sandown, popular for its gently sloping beaches.
Shortly after a visit to Sandown we reach our destination Shanklin, one of the Island's most popular seaside resorts but still with quiet relax ambiance.
And after lunch you can relax on the beach, have a tea break in Shanklin’s Old Village or visit Shanklin Chine.
Shanklin Chine - a fissure in the cliffs stretching into the land is well worth a visit as a walk down the winding path through the trees ferns and waterfall is magical.
Shanklin's Old Village, a collection of beautiful thatched cottages with lovely tea gardens.
In the afternoon we head back to Ryde. Trail leads us back to Sandown and then through the westland, rich in bird and plant life, to Brading. Through country lines we come back to Ryde.
Late afternoon we leave Ryde aiming to be back in London before 9pm.
