Knole House Deer Park & Ightham Mote (14.8.)

Weekend recharger out of busy London. Pull on your boots and set course for an exciting walking day out in English finest countryside! Visit magnificent Ightham Mote, indulge superb food, have fun with great people.

Highlights

• Knole House and magnificent deer park
• Guided walk to Ightham Mote
• Visit to The National Trust Ightham Mote
• Relax in English countryside
• Great tearooms and local pubs

Itinerary

This rewarding walk takes us down narrow country lanes, through lush orchards and across fields.

First we pass the wonderfully atmospheric Knole House, a fascinating survivor of great house splendour. We stop for a quick tea break and a group picture with Knole as a background. Have your cameras ready!
As the Knole House has 365 rooms – one for every day of the year – it´s best saved for your separate visit another day (we won't visit Knole House but you can visit Ightham Mote in your free time)

Through magnificent deer park at Knole we head off to The National Trust Ightham Mote. This Tudor manor house looks like a quaint half-timbered cottage writ large, ringed by a moat and it is crammed with treasures. It is worth a visit and as Ightham Mote is just in the middle of the walk it is a good stop for the lunch as well.

From Ightham Mote the walk becomes no just pretty but spectacular. The walk ascends a high ridge, following part of the established Greensand Way, with terrific views south to the High Weald.
From the ridge we enter deer park at Knole again, walking past the high ragstone walls of Knole House itself.

We round the day with a pint of refreshing ale in a nearby pub before we set on our journey back to London.

Knole House Deer Park & Ightham Mote(14 Aug 10). It was my very first trip on meetup and I really enjoyed this long nice walk. Weather was not as bad as it was looking in the morning. Most of people who RSVPed didnt show up so just few of us were there. But still it was good fun. Look forward to attend another trip soon. Guys please come up with some good ideas for next trip.
