Itinerary
A quick train journey from London to the Dorset seaside resort of Bournemouth.
On the board of the Dorset Belle cruiser wet set the sail along the Jurassic Coast, one of the greatest natural wonder in Britain.
Our destination - Swanage, traditional seaside bucket & spade holiday resort on the Isle of Purbeck.
Upon arrival we answer our grumbling stomachs - there are plenty of fish restaurants, 'Chip Shops', pub grub, ice cream outlets and cafés and head out for more fun…
Superb cliff top walk along the coast - great views of the Swanage Bay, famous cliffs Old Harry Rocks and the Pinnacles.
Legend says that the Devil had a sleep on the rocks, which lead to the old euphemism of the Devil being called "Old Harry". Another possible source of the name is that the rocks were named after a famous Poole pirate, Harry Paye, who used to store his contraband nearby.
Relax on the beach - Studland Bay, gently shelving sandy shore with sparkling blue water, voted fourth top beach in the UK. Whole area is a National Nature Reserve. Restaurant and cafés facilities. Pedaloes, surf boards and canoes can be hired at the beach.
Open-top double-deck bus ride back to Bournemouth through narrow country lanes, crossing the sea on old fashion Sandbank Ferry.
